The Swamp – Horror Game Demo (Art Direction & Technical Art)
For weeks, something strange has been stirring at the edges of the Gualitche Swamp.
Whispers drift through the fog, shadows move without a source, and the air has grown so heavy that even silence feels like it’s pressing down. No one dares to enter… but something is trying to get out.
“The Swamp” is a playable horror game demo developed in Unity, designed to immerse players in a dark, atmospheric forest plagued by a supernatural presence. The player must explore the environment, gather clues, and find a way to seal the evil force before it escapes.
As the Art Director and Technical Artist, I was in charge of defining the visual identity of the demo — crafting a stylized horror aesthetic with cinematic lighting, eerie mood, and visual storytelling. I also worked on real-time optimization and created several environment props using Blender and Substance Painter.
🧩 Gameplay Features:
Note reading – uncover the story through written clues scattered across the environment.
Flashlight mechanic – explore the darkness with limited visibility.
Jump scare system – terrifying encounters with the lurking enemy.
Holy item system – collect holy water and a crucifix to destroy cursed portals and weaken the entity.
This prototype focuses on visual horror and emotional tension, showcasing how art direction and technical polish can enhance immersion even within a small-scale demo.
